What is Suno?

Suno is the AI music generator that makes complete songs — vocals, instruments, melody, harmony, and lyrics — from a single text prompt. Released in 2023 and now one of the most-used AI music tools in the world, Suno has compressed the gap between "I have an idea for a song" and "I'm listening to a finished track" to about thirty seconds. No instruments, no production knowledge, no studio time required.

The output isn't a loop or an ambient texture — it's a structured song with an intro, verses, a chorus, and often a bridge. It sounds like something you might hear on a streaming platform, not a demo from a hobbyist.

Step-by-step: your first song

1. Go to suno.com and click Sign Up
2. Use Google, Microsoft, or Discord — no credit card needed for the free tier
3. You land on the creation page with daily free credits loaded
4. Type a description: cinematic lo-fi hip hop, rainy evening, soft piano, no vocals
5. Click Create — Suno generates two variations in about 30 seconds
6. Play both — they'll be different interpretations of your prompt
7. Click the three-dot menu on the one you prefer, then Download

Total time to first song: under 2 minutes.

Prompt tips

Be specific about genre and mood. "Sad song" produces something generic. "Melancholic indie folk, fingerpicked acoustic, rainy afternoon, male vocals" produces something with character.

Use the Custom Mode for more control:

• Write your own lyrics (or paste AI-generated lyrics from Claude)
• Set a specific musical style tag like [Verse], [Chorus], [Bridge]
• Specify BPM and key if you have a musical ear
